50th Anniversary Celebrations & Summer Garden Party

Parents from all school sites, current and past members of staff, and school alumni came together at the Summer Garden Party to celebrate 50 Years of the Maria Montessori School.

Lynne Lawrence, Director of Training and Schools, welcomed everyone and took them through the school’s history, from when the first Children’s House was established at Hampstead in 1964 to its expansion today with Children’s Houses in Bayswater, Hornsey Rise, Notting Hill and West Hampstead and Elementary classes in Hampstead and Bayswater, and a new Children’s House opening in Holland Park in September this year.

Jenny Kleeman, alumni from the Hampstead Children’s House and a well-known journalist, spoke about her time in school and how Montessori education has been an integral part of her life. Other alumni representing past decades were also present to share their experiences.

The new Coach House had an exhibition of photos of the school staff and pupils through the past years. The 50 pledges for the ’50 at 50′ Challenge were also showcased.

It was indeed a special and memorable evening.
