AMI Refresher Courses

Refresh your Montessori knowledge

These advanced courses are an opportunity to refresh and revive your Montessori training and to connect with fellow Montessorians. The AMI Refreshers are on a different topic each time but always focus on key elements of the Montessori approach.

AMI Refresher courses are open to those who have studied Montessori at a diploma level (see each course for details).

AMI Refresher 6-12

“Ensuring the Essentials: Empowering Every Child to Flourish in the Montessori 6-12 Environment” – Online in March 2021

How can we recognise and honour each child’s individual development in the Elementary class? Join trainer Alison Awes to explore how to make room for different learners by aiding life in accordance with the second-plane child’s true nature. Learn how to help children, including those with a comparatively weak foundation, to build the skills necessary for academic, emotional, and social success.

This course is open to AMI 6-12 Diploma holders only.

What will I learn about?

  • Knowing when adaptations are necessary for individual children
  • Creating a psychological environment that protects self-esteem and provides safety, security and trust
  • Supporting the acquisition of basic skills such as knowledge of phonemic awareness and the memorisation of mathematics combinations far beyond the transition from Children’s House to Elementary
  • Helping children bridge social or emotional gaps
  • Enabling children to take risks in their learning and capitalise on their strengths
  • Using practical life, the correction of errors and grace and courtesy to support a community that embraces every child
